Marina Barrage x2

Yesterday yixin and i went to Sakura@cck 'cause we had the 30% discount coupon. Enjoyed the salmon sashimi and this prawn sashimi that looks like adult amaebi haha. There's this crayfish laksa that was really good too! Wish i had a big enough stomach to hold all the good food :(

After that we made our way to marina barrage, the place that so many people have been telling me about. Getting there is quite troublesome, since we still had to walk quite a bit to the bus stop from marina bay mrt. Didn't quite like walking through the underpass with its eerie yellow lights. The moment we got down the bus, we were greeted by the many colourful kites flying merrily in the night sky. How beautiful! The furthest kite even looked like it could blend in with the stars. We walked around, admiring the scenery and enjoying the breeze. Yixin said it's a good place for class gathering. I tried to imagine us all flying kites. Heh.

We caught the 1030pm bus and thought we were heading for marina bay mrt, but i didn't know which stop to alight so we ended up at the bus terminal, along with a few panic-stricken people. Hopped onto bus 106 thinking we could end up in bukit batok, but we passed by a few stops with 190 so we changed to that instead. I was so tired, i slept all the way back to cck.

So today i told my parents about marina barrage and my mum wanted to go there. We went to giant@imm first to buy some stuff, and i grabbed this $3.90 kite thinking we could go fly it there. Turned out it was such a lousy kite - all it does when launched into the air is spiral clockwise back to earth-.- Mum said all she saw was dad and i making a fool out of ourselves in a crowd of pro flyers. Haii.

School is starting tomorrow, can't wait! Shall go to sleep soon :)

No more yog!

Ah it's so convenient to have a blogging app so I can start blogging on the way home while I still remember stuff. And speaking of things I would remember, mr-boxing-handsome would definitely be the top of my list. He's here as an athlete role model, to give pointers to our rising stars and arouse interest in the young ones. And how mesmerizing can he be! He had a mock boxing match with one guy, and the way he dodged punches neatly, the style he threw his own punches out...I couldn't take my eyes off him. This must sound like an infatuation :) but it's something I haven't had in years! We had a group photo with him, which should be up on Facebook anytime soon. I ended my last day of work with very warm cheeks, haha.

Today business was exceptionally brisk at the yog merchandise store, probably because it's the last day to get souvenirs. The products were flying off their shelves! Apparently even the bunch of school children have their visa cards to pay for their purchases. Back in our time, we got handphones like in upper secondary only! So yea, the lyo and merly plushies were sold out, islandwide. Got money also cannot buy :(

Aww, so patient with kids. He didn't seem to mind them throwing punches at his palm, he was smiling throughout the session. :):)

Finally my yog duties are finished. Just a few more days and school will start! Can't wait!

I love merly :)

I'm now on the mrt back home. Met yixin after work and took a walk around suntec. We really don't go to the city often. Chanced upon gelare and had their half-priced waffles. In the end we were too full to have the buffet I really wanted. We wanted to catch a movie too, but the timings were too far off:(

Yixin's drooling on my shoulder as I type. Haha alright that's an exaggeration. He's happily sleeping and nodding vigorously.

As we simply could not decide what to do with ourselves( to think it's our like 3yr2mths anniversary), we started walking. And we did walk very far. To the floating platform where we were rejected entry due to yog rehearsals, then along the bridge, past the merlion, through the Fullerton bay hotel, and finally we reached the place where they were having yog celebrations. I'm really bad with the names of places in town-.- There was a rapping performance going on, and halfway through fireworks appeared in the night sky, though not as long and pretty as the one I saw on Friday night. I decided we should walk on and find ourselves a bus stop ( while making yixin walk around on tiptoes for being irritating), instead we found this underpass which brought us to raffles place mrt after walking like 24km on foot.

This morning I had yog duty again. Took advantage of the relatively smaller crowd and took photos with the 2 cute mascots! Lyo was being exceptionally flirty today, and kept bullying quiet little merly. But merly was caught pulling lyo's tail too. Ahaha. I would miss seeing them once the whole thing's over.

Haha it's actually in the morning now, didn't get a chance to post them last night. Photos coming up:

And that last one is me successfully doing a baby freeze, though still far from looking nice. Alright I gotta get to work, finally the last day!

YOG

Haven't blogged about my volunteering experience at yog! Some photos to share:

This very cute baby is just so lovable! He would always laugh whenever his grandma sang "twinkle star" to him. He let me carry him, and I took the opportunity to get a picture. When his parents sat him in the big O, he kept rocking forward and backward and scaring all of us. Wonderful baby :) Lots of babies pass through the area everyday, they're such a joy to watch!

Yea this is the place I work at, and when there are times like this when there's not much crowd, we take photos!

That's the merly plushie they're selling over at the store. I'm so gonna get one for myself, when prices drop. I haven't been able to take photos with the mascots though, they're always surrounded by people when they come. Hopefully during my last two days of work I'll be able to get a picture!

Last friday some guy came around and told us there'll be fireworks at marina wherever. So after work we made our way to the merlion place (while getting lost on the way there, but we made it in time) and saw the most wonderful fireworks display I've ever seen. It sure wasn't as magnificent as the display at the opening ceremony, but I definitely had a very very good view. The photo above was taken with no zoom on my n93i. I was at the end of the platform, and the display happened right in front of me, above the surface of the water. It was loud, and smoky, and brilliant!!! :)

On sunday my parents came to the yog exhibition and we went off after my work to this restaurant that has "best ribs in america". Haha I forgot the name. There was this pretty koi garden right outside the restaurant, with big fat kois lazing around. We had 2 full slabs of ribs that were really delicious. Well worth the money, even if we didn't have the discount coupons.

My volunteering experience has been nice so far. I felt really proud when an egyptian official told me "Singapore is a beautiful city", and when this caucasian women came over to shake my hand and said "You volunteers are wonderful". Feels really good to know that we're appreciated. Food's great, and the other volunteers I'm working with are such fun people! We actually went to try out boxing, and I realise throwing punches is not as easy as it seems. Haha. I'm looking forward to the Universal Studios trip they're gonna give us as appreciation! :)

I spent some time reading articles with very negative comments with regard to the YOG, and can't help but feel sad. It's not like what they're complaining about is wrong. But all the negativity and pessimism radiating from the comments makes me feel depressed. I keep thinking, what if those people who slog their guts out trying to make it a success read this? Knowing that all their efforts have gone down the drain, not appreciated. I'm not talking about myself, so far it has been a great experience as a volunteer. Got to meet new people, learn new stuff, see cute korean taekwondo guys in action heh. I don't understand why people our age (i'm guessing from the way they type) can be so negative, only harping on mistakes made but not complimenting jobs well done. Is it the norm now, to blindly oppose whatever decisions our government make? Immature. 无聊. Such highly-biased, one-sided opinions...confirm fail GP-.-
