遗憾

Shiyun and charmaine must be at work already. It's gonna be an exciting day, after all, not every day you get to see someone get sacked. I feel like I'm 幸灾乐祸-ing.

Yea I left off last post saying how I was excited about the new colleagues coming in. And they sure brought a lot of life to the office. A little too much life though. A colleague calls them the market - "the sell pork one, sell chicken one, sell fish one, sell smth-else-i-can't-rmb one" But it's probably 'cause they don't know the rules, so we made it known that no fb-blogging-msn what not is allowed during office hours (I feel quite sad myself, but often there's so much to do I don't have the spare time to go online). By the second day it was pretty obvious that only two were making all the noise, and one of them has horrible working attitude. Shiyun almost went to pieces teaching her. Haha. Like what charmaine says, shiyun can explode into a werewolf anytime just like Jacob. Ahaha. So yea, the management is kicking her out. I'm so curious about what's happening right now in office!

Life now seems to be more interesting than when I first started working. Of course I still wake up unwillingly at 6.30am every day, thinking how nice it would be if I could continue sleeping. Then I would drop out of bed and make my way to the bathroom with one eye closed (with both eyes closed on rainy mornings), and mumble something to my dad along the way. He always sits at the dining table at 6.30am, reading newspapers from the day before. After washing up and eating I would go and wait for bus 300 which comes like every 5 minutes but I usually can only get on the 3rd one. Then mrt to woodlands, bus 964 to work. That was pretty much the routine for the past few weeks.

Now I wait for 300 at sunshine instead so I can sit down. At cck I almost always meet a friend who works at tampines, but takes the train to woodlands too. At woodlands I meet qiaohan to go to work together, so it feels less lonely now. I used to dread going to work because I didn't know what I was working for, but now I know what I'm doing. I learnt a lot from charmaine, a full time staff who's our age and hangs out a lot with us now. I'm also getting to know our logistics head better, and his instructions seem a little more understandable now. Just found out that he's a fan of 九把刀, and he generously lent me two of his favourite books. I'm quite addicted to the one I'm reading now - 那些年，我们一起追的女孩. I think my immune system has gotten used to the air in the office, so I don't fall sick. I don't even get too bothered by unpleasant stuff happening in office already, because having great people around me makes everything better. Also, having classmates working in the same office means a lot more common topics to talk about. Almost every day we find something about yixin to discuss (...more like niao him, heh).

Tomorrow new colleagues are gonna come in. I'm looking forward to how things will turn out, given that employment hasn't been very successful in our office. I'm actually excited about tomorrow! Haha. Time for sleep!

I'm spending the last few minutes of work to blog now! I THINK I've done enough for today. Haha.

So Susan has left work, and should be happily getting ready for her trip to taiwan. If only I could go along with her. Work doesn't hold much motivation for me now, only dearest friends at work keep me going. Even money does not entice me much. I hope my future career will provide a more enriching working experience. I think it will anyway, what can be more enriching than seeing all sorts of patients everyday!

Today I had pig large intestines and pig leg for lunch! Shared it with shiyun. The portion was really little, so we weren't full after the meal. Went to buy some snacks that are super unhealthy...and it's time for home! byebye!

Here I am, blogging again because I don't have anything to do before sleep. Life nowadays is just work, sleep, get up for work, repeat. My happiest time would probably be the lunch break I have with Susan and Shiyun :) Just got my paycheck today, and I'm thinking it's really not so bad to endure a bit of boredom for the money. I'll probably change my mind right after the long weekend haha.

Today I heard that 2 interviewees who got through decided to not come after all. I don't understand, they haven't even tried to do the job. Maybe they had other job offers, or just being picky. I imagined myself in their shoes - fresh graduate with high expectations wrt salary and working environment, and realised that I probably wouldn't stay long too. But I would give it a try first. And at the very least, call to inform that I won't be turning up on my first day of work. Common courtesy.

We had our lunch at Koufu at the nearby Woodlands Mart. I was waiting at the table for them to get their food first, when this grandma put her tray down right in front of me and totally ignoring my existence. I told her that the table is taken, and she actually gave me a look of plain disgust and wandered off somewhere else. Her friend (also a grandma) asked me again if the seat was taken. I said yes, and she gave me an irritated look. Hello, I respect that you are old and I would gladly let you have the table if you asked nicely and explained why you insist on taking my table when the table right beside had 2 empty seats and the place was pretty much empty anyway. I didn't feel very happy. But I looked as the other grandma walked around and couldn't find a table (for reasons I cannot fathom) and I decided to let them have the table anyway. Neither grandma so much as even looked at me while the other grandma strolled over to the table. Nice. And I always thought old people have good manners. I informed Shiyun and she called Susan while I got another table. I have never met people like them before, and I sure hope I won't ever.

Just writing about that incident makes me warm and awake now. But I really should go to sleep soon. Goodnight.

Chalet :)

So from Wednesday to Friday i had my long-awaited chalet holiday with yixin :) After just 2 days of work haha. Work was...it was a very new experience for me. I had the impression from my stint at Astar that organisations should be like that, with a clear structure of hierarchy and advanced IT systems. Everyone was so nice, no yelling, civilised language...haha. Not that I don't like the change. It feels more carefree in a way, at least I don't have to worry about being formal or stuff like that. Yet the work environment is also more restricting, there is almost no slacking time 'cause there is always work to do. I feel more responsible for the work I'm doing now. It feels like there's no room for mistakes, 'cause if work is not done properly someone else will have to clean up and he certainly won't be happy about it. To sum it up...I think I'm only seeing the real world now.

Back to the chalet. Check-in time was at 4pm, so I only started packing in the afternoon. Turned out I spent a lot of time trying to figure out how to fit rolly's waterbottle on his travel cage. My parents decided to have a holiday in Kota Kinabalu during this period (-.-) so I had to bring rolly along. And after I fit it on, i realised i should have put it on only after we reach the chalet. One area of rolly's bedding was already soaked by the time I pulled the bottle out. I think rolly was concentrating on how to get out though; he had never been put in such a small cage before and looked rather bewildered. He did settle down after we reached the chalet and could put the cage on a flat stable surface. We took the public bus to Costa Sands - I knew there was a shuttle bus service somewhere but yixin insisted that it wasn't at the taxi stand, which turned out to be the correct place-.-

It was a very nice place, fully air-conditioned and clean. After packing and slacking for a bit we decided to watch a movie. I insisted on watching Love at 7th sight first, and yixin commented at first that he didn't understand a thing, and later that it was lame. I just thought Mike He was so handsome. Then we went out and got waffles and cup noodles for dinner, and some cheese cupcake for breakfast next day. We were back in our room when we realised we didn't have utensils to eat with. So we went back and got a packet of disposable chopsticks just for 2 cup noodles. Haha. Then we put 20th Century Boys Chapter 2 on. I think I dozed off near the middle of the movie, and had to pull myself up to wash up before collapsing on the pillow. Yixin happily continued the movie, I think I opened my eyes to see him shutting down my laptop and went back to sleep again.

We woke up the next day feeling all relaxed and lazy. I put Chapter 2 on again to finish watching what I've missed, and then the last chapter. It felt so nice to be slacking in an air-con room :) We could hardly get out of bed, but it was already 1 plus in the afternoon (!!) We made our way down to Wild Wild Wet since we had free tickets there. There were some construction works going on, so we didn't get to explore the whole place. I loved the lazy river most 'cause it moved so slowly ahaha. Floats there are FOC, they just float around in the water for people to grab them. The waves over at the wave pool were way more exciting than those at jurong, i even got dizzy! I tried the waves once with a float, and then with a life jacket. I think using a life jacket is less tiring since there's no need to hold onto a float. Can pretend that I'm surfing too :) After that we went to Hei sushi for its teatime buffet! But they don't offer free red plates :( I ordered one anyway, I'm so addicted to Amaebi sashimi! After that we went for a little bowling session. There was this super pro uncle right beside us, who smiled and nodded encouragingly when our ball curved right into the gutters. His ball, on the other hand, could make a nice big curve to hit all the pins. So stressed. I lost both games to yixin and he was so proud of himself. He didn't even make the hundred mark heh. Then we took a ride on the ferris wheel, just 2 short rounds :(

I wanted to have a movie marathon, but after watching percy jackson I was very tired already. I think it's the air-con, since I'm pretty much aircon-deprived at home. We slept till late morning the next day, and had a quick swim before checking out. The Costa Sands pool has see-through windows, I totally felt like a penguin in the zoo when I swam past them. Haha. We lugged our bags to Sakura to have their lunch buffet, and to our surprise, there were a lot of people queueing up for the 1 hr buffet thingy. A pity we didn't have any dbs/posb cards, or it would have been so much cheaper. I had a lot of my favourite salmon sashimi :)

Oh and I kicked my HDD off the bed while watching 赌侠. Now it just makes clicking noises and refuses to work. I think it's pretty much dead. I tried freezing it, putting it in an oven (and melting its plastic covering how stupid of me), whacking it on all sides. Haii. Will have to get another one at the upcoming IT fair. It's lucky I keep my important data across all my comps.

And so my last paper is a week away, MCQs with multiple answers. At least I don't have to write. It's still scary though, it's actually possible to get it all wrong! I'll have to use my week to scruntinise my notes and look out for details :(

Jay's new album is coming out very very soon! I'm gonna go pre-order it maybe tomorrow. I have a really good feeling about this album, the two songs I've heard so far are SO NICE! It's amazing, everytime he releases his album he makes me fall in love with him all over again :) Such a nice feeling.

A long time ago jacq and i went swimming, and while we were waiting at the bus stop for the bus home, this little bird caught my eye! It didn't seem to be afraid of people, it was just hopping around very close to me. So I took out my camera expecting it to fly off anytime, especially when the flash came on. But it didn't move very much, so I snapped away happily haha. It's not very clear in the photos, but it has really pretty green shiny feathers! Or maybe all birds have them, I just haven't been close enough to one to observe carefully. The bird attracted lots of attention too, some kids were shoo-ing it around, and it just fluttered its wings a bit and came back to the bus stop. I heard them speculating if the bird was sick. Probably so, 'cause most birds would have the sense to avoid humans if they wanted to survive.

So I've been feeding myself a lot since I'm mostly at home now and my mum has to work. It's quite frustrating when the only things I can cook are porridge and egg and simple steamed fish fillet. And prawns too, but i can't seem to get the sauce right. I hope jacq didn't get a tummyache from eating those prawns :( I kinda asked my mum about it, shall try again when I have prawns in the fridge. Heh. Yesterday I made yixin porridge and fish while I gobbled down the kfc he bought back. He sulked throughout the meal. HAHA.

Omg exams.

I can't believe my first year of uni life is coming to an end in one month's time. It's almost unreal to be sitting for my final exam for TCM in 3 weeks when I've only had 3 weeks plus of lessons. And I actually have 15 hours a week of this particular TCM module, when my friend only has 15 hours worth of lessons to attend per week. Haha. Someone once exclaimed to me, "Isn't it like JC life all over again!" I haven't had a chance to experience the average uni life, so it all doesn't really matter to me. I just know I have to mug, and mug, and get good grades and make my parents happy.
